Garden Beans with Hot Bacon Dressing

Garden Beans with Hot Bacon Dressing

The irresistable taste of bacon makes this a very popular recipe. And to maintain that vibrant color, run the beans under cold water immediately after boiling.

Serves 6

  • 4 cups Pictsweet frozen Cut Green Beans
  • 1/2 cup Pictsweet frozen Chopped Onions
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • 4 slices bacon, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar

Place frozen green beans and frozen onions in a saucepan and cover with water. Place uncovered saucepan on stove top and bring to a boil. Boil for 3 minutes. Drain and rinse immediately with cold water. Drain again and set aside. Toast sliced almonds. Fry bacon pieces until crisp. Drain and save bacon drippings. Stir beef broth, sugar and pepper into bacon drippings. Add green beans and onions. Remove from heat and add vinegar, stirring gently. Sprinkle with bacon and almonds.
